Location

The Domus Via Veneto – Luxury Guest House is located in one of the most elegant and luxurious area in the heart of Rome.
From this privileged location our guests can easily reach all the main attractions in Rome and its most important monuments and plazas, such as: Piazza Barberini, Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, Via del Corso, Villa Borghese, Piazza Del Popolo, Piazza Venezia, The Coliseum and the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and the Vatican.
Via Veneto is the symbol of the so- called “La Dolce Vita”- “sweet life”-  and its charm is due to the prestigious boutiques, the numerous restaurants and cafés located all along the wide sidewalks and the elegant villas and buildings. One of the most important buildings in the street is Palazzo Margherita: it takes its name from the Queen Margherita, who made of this building her residence in 1900. Formerly it belonged to the Ludovisi family and today it is the base of the American Embassy.

SURROUNDINGS

The 'Fontana del tritone' in Piazza Barberini was a Bernini work and was commissioned by Pope Urban Barberini VIII in 1642 to celebrate the completion of his palace - the Palazzo Barberini.
Via delle quattro fontaneruns from the Piazza Barberini (the Fontana del Tritone side) towards Via del Quirinale, and where these two roads intersect sits the "Quattro Fontane" - the four fountains.
These four fountains each occupy the corner of one building on the intersection, which also happens to be the highest point of Quirinal hill - also the highest and largest of Rome's 7 hills. The work was commissioned by Pope Sixtus V as part of his massive restoration project of Rome.
The Palazzo Barberini in Via delle Quattro Fontane was originally built for Pope Urban in 1623 (Barberini being the Pope's original name) it now houses paintings from the 13th to 16th century and exhibitions for the National Art Gallery of Rome. Both Maderno and Bernini worked on Palazzo Barberini.
Not to be missed is the beautiful Bernini sculpture, "The ecstacy of St Teresa". You will find it in the Santa Maria della Vittoria church in Via XX Settembre 17
Visit the Santa Maria della Concezione in Via Veneto No. 27, if you’re looking for some “Angel and Demons” emotions: this church is famous for its so- called “Cappuccini Crypt”. In the crypt beneath the church the bones of thousands of Capuchin friars decorate the walls in a sombre monument to death.

Trevi Fountain: the most impressive and famous fountain in Rome , and probably in the whole world. It is also one of the best examples of the Baroque art style. An old legend says that visitors who throw a coin into the fountain they are ensured a return trip to Rome.
It took more than three century to be completed: many artists took part in it, like Bernini, but  and most part is the work of a Roman Architect, Nicola Salvi.

Spanish Steps: this famous staircase is located between Piazza Trinità dei Monti and the celebrated Piazza di Spagna. In the 18th century it became a meeting place for artists and models, and nowadays you can always see it very crowded especially during the summer months. At the centre of Piazza di Spagna is located the fountain “Barcaccia”, a small boat , attributed to Gian Lorenzo Bernini.  Facing the Spanish Steps, is located the renowned Via Condotti, which joins Via del Corso with Piazza di Spagna: it is the heart of fashion shopping in Rome, being all the boutiques of the most famous Italian fashion brands located in this street.
